Sectional win sends Rock Bridge girls golfers to state tournament

The Rock Bridge girls golf team qualified for the Class 2 state tournament by winning Thursday in sectional play at the Sedalia Country Club.

Senior Meghan Mueller led the Bruins with a 5-over par 76 to finish in a three-way tie for the individual championship. Rock Bridge finished with a 335 to beat Kickapoo (344), Lee's Summit West (356), Republic (356), Helias (366) and Nixa (436).

Kaitlyn Marsh and Morgan Reimler both shot 86s for Rock Bridge for ninth-place finishes, while Angie Kern shot an 87 to finish in a four-way tie for 11th. Makayla Baker finished in a four-way tie for 24th.

Hickman's Patricia De Castro (three-way tie for 31st) and Kasey Nichols (41st) qualified for the tournament as individuals but did not advance.

 

 

The state tournament will be held Oct. 18 and 19 at the Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Mo.
