COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of robbing a woman at gunpoint.

A woman reported that she was in her home when Sidney McNeal Gates, 27, an acquaintance, took out a gun and demanded money, Sgt. Mike Krohn of the Boone County Sheriff's Department said.

Krohn said that after the woman gave Gates money, he fled to a car waiting outside. He was taken to an address in the city.

Law enforcement found Gates during a traffic stop. He was arrested on suspicion of an outstanding no-bond probation/parole warrant, possession of narcotics, first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and third-degree domestic assault.
