Mohler patriarch moves to top of trial slate

KANSAS CITY — The trial of a 49-year-old Missouri man who is accused of molesting young family members decades ago has been pushed back to March, allowing the family patriarch to be tried first.

Jared Mohler was scheduled to go to trial in January on three counts of rape, one count of sodomy and three counts of using a child in a sexual performance.

He and his three brothers, their father and their uncle all are accused of molesting family members in rural Lafayette County during a 10-year period beginning in the mid-1980s.

Burrell Mohler Sr., 77, faces 21 counts of rape and other offenses. He is scheduled to go to trial Feb. 22. in Clay County.
