INDEPENDENCE — A sign warning against drunken driving has been installed at a site in western Missouri where a 16-year-old girl was killed last year on Halloween night.

KMBC-TV reports the state transportation department sign on U.S. 24 in Independence is the first of its kind in Missouri.

Laura Reynolds was a passenger in a truck driven by a man who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal accident. The sign includes Laura's initials and date of death along with the words "Drunk Driving Victim!" and "Think About It!"

The Missouri legislature approved the new style of sign to help people remember drunken driving victims and urge people to think about their choices.

Families of drunken driving victims can request the signs.
