KANSAS CITY — Missouri Republican Roy Blunt says he raised $2.4 million during the past quarter for his U.S. Senate campaign.

The southwest Missouri congressman released a summary of his quarterly campaign finance reports Thursday, a day before they are due to be filed. Blunt says it was his largest fundraising quarter of the campaign.

His Democratic rival, Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, has not yet released quarterly finance figures.

Blunt's report also shows he spent nearly $2.7 million from July through September, leaving him with more than $3.7 million in his account at the start of October.

Blunt and Carnahan are competing in the Nov. 2 elections to replace retiring Republican Sen. Kit Bond.
