COLUMBIA — A "Mascot Masquerade" will give area sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders the opportunity to suggest a mascot for the Fr. Augustine Tolton Regional Catholic High School.

The event will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 30 in the gymnasium of the Columbia Catholic School, 817 Bernadette Drive.

Mascots from Columbia high schools and colleges have been invited as well. Students are asked to dress up in costume, and prizes will be awarded for the most outstanding costumes and mascots.

In the days following the event, a committee of the new high school’s administration, parents and students will decide on the new mascot.

Fr. Augustine Tolton Regional Catholic High School is the first Catholic high school to open in Columbia and is scheduled to open in 2011.
