COLUMBIA — The city has been awarded a $75,000 grant to develop a baseball field in the Atkins Baseball Complex, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

The grant is one of 11 Land and Water Conservation Fund grants recommended to the National Park Service by the state.

According to the news release, Land Water Conservation Fund grants are provided to “assist with park and recreation needs.” Cities, counties and public school districts can apply, and the funds must be used for “development or renovation of outdoor recreation facilities or acquisition of park land.” All projects require a 55 percent match.
