LETTER: City Council passes development request, dishonors Bourn residents

Monday, October 25, 2010 | 11:04 a.m. CDT

When is a victory defined as a loss? One loses in victory when decency, common sense and honest performance of duty is thrown away to publicly prove a position of power. The City Council (less two dissenting votes) passed a development request on the corner of Bourn and West Broadway this Monday, October 18. Shame belongs to the assenting voters, for they did not choose the honorable path.

Glory belongs to the residents of Bourn who, though they lost on paper, gained in heart by defending the safety of their children. God knows what is in our hearts and blesses those who try to do their best with what they know to be true.

Julia Williams lives in Columbia.
