LETTER: People must act to end political mudslinging

Monday, October 25, 2010 | 5:17 p.m. CDT

George Kennedy 's column reminds me of that old axiom, "The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off."

His nomination of Robin Carnahan for the Worst Campaign by a Missouri Democrat raised the hackles of Democrats, I'm sure, and old dog independents like me, but what can be done about political mudslinging?

Here are two ideas to push out political mud-slinging:

1. Folks could contact TV and radio stations and tell them they will PRESS THE MUTE button on ALL COMMERCIALS if the station runs mud-slinging political commercials.

2. Folks could push for legislation that requires candidates and their supporters to only present candidate position statements, agendas, qualifications, etc.
