Those who attended the September meeting of the Columbia Audubon Society voted unanimously to support Proposition 1. Audubon has since donated $250 to Friends of Columbia's Parks to help that group's efforts to inform citizens of the importance of the Nov. 2 vote. We believe that the continuation of this one-eighth-cent dedicated tax will provide vital support for the many various recreational activities of Columbia citizens as well as support for Audubon's interests as expressed in our statement of purpose: "To promote an understanding and appreciation of the unique and important natural habitats of Missouri, especially mid-Missouri, the birds and other wildlife they support and their benefits to humans."
