The Rock Bridge boys soccer team beat Jefferson City in overtime penalty kicks to win the Class 3, District 9 championship Wednesday night in Sedalia.
The game remained scoreless after regulation and two overtime periods sending it into a shootout.
Rock Bridge scored all six of their allotted penalty kicks on shots by Jon Gunter, Matt Kelly, Trevor Davis, Ryan Taylor, Danny Baird and Ryan Stanowski. Then, Bruins goalkeeper Brady Wulff made a save on Jefferson City's sixth penalty kick to win the game.
Before the shootout, the Bruins made eight shots on goal, sending one into the net in the 13th minute that was called back on a foul.
The Bruins (21-5) advance to play Rolla (15-9-2) in sectional competition Tuesday.
“We’re very confident," Rock Bridge coach Kyle Austin said. "Our boys seem happy with the win. I think they’ll be ready to go.”
