COLUMBIA — One woman was taken to the hospital Friday evening after two cars collided at Brickton Road and East Broadway.

A woman driving alone in a silver Mazda RX-8 was transported to Boone County Hospital, said Columbia Police Department Officer Michael Locascio, who was at the scene. The vehicle appeared to have driven over one of the intersection's medians, and the front of the car was damaged significantly.

The other car involved in the collision, a tan Hyundai Elantra, also appeared to have gone over the median. The two 25-year-old men in the car were both unharmed but shaken up as they waited in a friend's vehicle for their car to be towed.

The accident was first reported at 5:30 p.m., according to the City of Columbia 911 dispatch log.
