COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women’s basketball team had a rough second half against Lyon College.
Poor shooting contributed to the Cougars' 49-48 loss Monday in Batesville, Ark.
The Cougars had a 32-25 lead at halftime, but the Scots rallied, winning the game with Jordin Coleman's lay-up at the buzzer.
Prior to Coleman's game-winning bucket, junior Kayla Rice made a 3-pointer to give Columbia College (1-1) a one point lead with 11.9 seconds left in the game.
“We just didn’t shoot well in the second half, and it put us in a tough spot,” said Columbia College head coach Mike Davis.
The Cougars, who are ranked No. 23 in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 poll, were led by Rice (20 points) and Janita Session (10 points).
The Cougars will host Peru State University at 5 p.m. Saturday.
