COLUMBIA — A recently created foundation will help donors keep their money in mid-Missouri.

The Community Foundation of Central Missouri will act as a middleman, helping individual and corporate philanthropists send their money directly to the local community.

The foundation was launched in May with initial funding coming from the the city of Columbia. It has since signed up partners including The Heart of Missouri United Way and ABC Laboratories.

The foundation is holding a launch event at 5 p.m. on Nov. 17 in the lobby of The Tiger Hotel, 23 S. Eighth St. The event will feature a program of speakers including the Foundation’s Executive Director Roger Still.
