MU women's basketball team opens season with convincing road win

After winning two exhibition games by a combined nine points at Mizzou Arena, the MU women's basketball team went on the road and defeated Memphis 67-40 to open up the 2010-2011 regular season.

The 27-point win is the first regular-season win with new coach Robin Pingeton at the helm.

The Tigers were led by senior RaeShara Brown, who scored a team-high 19 points and dished out 5 assists.

Senior Shakara Jones and junior Christine Flores both recorded double-doubles. Jones scored 11 points and pulled down 14 rebounds while Flores had 13 points to go along with a team-high 13 assists.

The Tigers led 38-19 at the half and by as many as 33 points in the second half.

Missouri will take the court on the road again on Sunday, facing off against Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Ill. at 4 p.m.
