Peru State hands No. 23 Columbia College second loss of season

Columbia College women's basketball lost 79-73 to Peru State University (Neb.) on Saturday evening. It is the Cougars' second loss of the season.

Junior center Denise Rosario recorded 16 points and eight rebounds for the Cougars. Rosario got help from junior forward Amanda Phillips, who added 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, and freshman guard Heather English notched 11 points. Junior guard Kayla Rice led the team with seven assists.

The Cougars, ranked No. 23 in the NAIA preseason poll, fall to 1-2 and play Avila University at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Kansas City.
