It was a moment that had to happen sooner or later. Robin Pingeton lost for the first time as the Missouri women's basketball head coach.

The Tigers (1-1) lost to Eastern Illinois, the defending Ohio Valley Conference champions, 81-73 on Sunday in Charleston, Ill. The loss ends a two-game road trip, which began with a 27-point win against Memphis on Friday.

Missouri trailed 32-21 at halftime and cut the lead to one point with less than eight minutes left in the game, but its second-half rally was not enough to overtake the Panthers.

Junior Christine Flores led the Tigers with 28 points and four blocks.

Sophomore Ta'Kenya Nixon had 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists to lead Eastern Illinois (1-1).

Missouri plays next Thanksgiving weekend in the Paradise Jam tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They will face Tennessee, Georgetown and Georgia Tech.
