Police investigating robbery at Regions Bank

Culprit still on the loose

COLUMBIA — Columbia police are investigating a bank robbery that happened shortly before 1 p.m. at Regions Bank, 2114 Paris Road.

At 12:51 p.m. Monday, a white man wearing a stocking cap and a hooded jacket or sweatshirt entered the bank and handed a note to a teller, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. The robber implied he had a gun, but there were no injuries.

The robber was seen running southeast with money stolen from the bank. Police spokeswoman Jessie Haden said in the release that two cars were seen leaving the bank. One was a white Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix style; the other was described as a black Nissan.
