The Columbia College women's basketball team lost 68-66 to Avila on Tuesday in Kansas City.

The Cougars outscored the hosts 36-31 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 37-30 halftime deficit. Junior Kayla Rice led the Cougars with 23 points. Freshman Heather English and Ashley Fisher each added 14 points.

The Cougars (1-3) play next against Lindenwood at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
