Missouri wrestling hosts quad meet

Sunday, November 21, 2010 | 9:25 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — After an easy opening match, the No. 11 Missouri wrestling team had a pair of tightly contested matches Sunday during a quad meet at Hearnes Center.

The Tigers finished the day with a 2-1 record. They opened the day with a 41-0 rout of Lindenwood. They followed with a 19-15 win against Hofstra before losing 19-13 to No. 17 Oregon State.

Missouri freshman Alan Waters beat all three of his opponents in the 125-pound weight class. Senior heavyweight Don Bradley was the only other Tiger to win all three of his matches. Neither wrestler has lost yet this season.

In the dual with Hofstra, the Tigers rallied with wins in their final three matches to secure the victory.

Against Oregon State, the Tigers fell behind big early, losing four of the first six matches. Kyle Bradley got the win at 149 to pull the Tigers within a point of the Beavers. Oregon State responded with wins late to hold off the surging Tigers.
