KANSAS CITY — Kansas City police say one of five teenagers who escaped from a juvenile jail last week turned himself in.

Police say relatives of the 15-year-old arranged for his surrender on Monday. The juvenile was being held for a probation violation and carrying a concealed weapon. His original offenses included burglary and stealing.

The five juveniles escaped from the jail Friday night while officers were distracted by a disturbance that police believe was staged to help the escape. The other four remain at large.

The Kansas City Star reports that they are 14 to 17 years old and their offenses include tampering, robbery and statutory sodomy.
