COLUMBIA — A $6.9 million road project that connects businesses in the Lemone industrial area northward to Stadium Boulevard has opened.

The public is invited to a ribbon cutting for Maguire Boulevard at 3 p.m. Monday at the north end of the new road at Stadium Boulevard east of U.S. 63.

Along with the new road there are bridges over the north and south forks of Grindstone Creek, a sidewalk and bike lanes from Lemone industrial area to Stadium Boulevard.

The project was funded by the Special Road District Tax, a quarter-cent capital improvement sales tax, Capital Fund balance, development fees and contributions from developers, according to a news release from the Public Works Department.
