BRANSON — Lightning hit a guard shack at the Silver Dollar City theme park in southwest Missouri, sparking a fire that could be seen for miles.

Park officials say no one was injured and damage was contained to the shack after the early morning fire on Thursday.

The 40-feet high shack is where ride monitors sit to watch activity at the park. It is near the "American Plunge" ride, which was closed for the season.

A Silver Dollar City spokeswoman says the fire will not affect Old Time Christmas events at the park, which is in Stone County.
