Candidacy filing for School Board opens soon

Friday, December 3, 2010 | 3:47 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — Future candidates in the 2011 Columbia School Board election may file for candidacy in two weeks. Three, three-year positions will need to be filled in April. Currently the positions are held by Ines Segert, Tom Rose and Jonathan Sessions, who is serving a one-year position to fill out a full term.


  • Filing period opens 8 a.m. Dec. 14.
  • Filing period closes 5 p.m. Jan. 18.
  • Candidates who file on the first day will be listed on the ballot in random order.
  • Candidates who file after the first day will be listed on the ballot in the order they file in.


  • Must be at least 24 years old.
  • Must provide a verbal statement of intent and fill out a packet of information at the office of the secretary of the Board of Education at 1818 W. Worley St.
