Columbia College came back from a four-point deficit in double overtime to defeat Peru (Neb.) State University 87-84 on Saturday. After falling behind early, the Cougars buried back-to-back jumpers and took a one-point lead on a 3-pointer with four seconds left. Kayla Rice then sunk a pair of free throws to extend the lead to three, and Amanda Phillips blocked Peru's best look at a game-tying 3 as the buzzer sounded.
Janita Session led Columbia College with 19 points, and Denise Rosario added 18. Rice finished with 12.
The Bobcats led for much of the first overtime and didn't give up the lead to Columbia until midway through the second half. The Cougars had chances to win at the end of the first overtime and regulation but fell short.
Columbia College lost an earlier match-up 79-73 to Peru State at home on Nov. 13.
The Cougars host Lyon (Ark.) College next at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6.
