COLUMBIA — No foul play is suspected in the death of an 80-year-old woman who was found dead on her front porch Thursday morning.
The woman, whose name had not been released, was found at 9:30 a.m. at E. 9335 Davis Road between Hallsville and Centralia.
Sheriff's Department Major Tom Reddin said she was found on her porch dressed in cold-weather clothing. He said it was clear she had been there for "some time," but police did not have an estimate of how long.
"There is no indication of foul play," Reddin said. It did not appear she had been harmed in any way, he added. Police do not have a cause of death.
Boone County Fire Protection District division chief Gale Blomenkamp said the fire district originally responded to a cardiac arrest call and found the woman on the porch when they arrived.
Neither the Sheriff's Department nor the Fire District knew who placed the emergency call.
