JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri transportation officials are urging people to be careful while traveling for the holidays because of forecasts calling for snow Friday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation was ready to dispatch plows after the snow and ice start. Don Hillis, the agency's director of system management, says crews will work around the clock if necessary. Missourians can get updates on road conditions at

Transportation officials say motorists should drive slower, keep their headlights and give plows room to work. Drivers should try to travel with a full tank of gas and stay in their vehicles if they get stuck.
