COLUMBIA — The Missouri men's basketball team avoided a holiday hangover by defeating Northern Illinois 97-61 at Mizzou Arena on Monday.

The Tigers started out hot, scoring 17 consecutive points before Northern Illinois could get a shot to fall. By halftime, the Tigers led 57-17.

Marcus Denmon led No. 10 Missouri in scoring with 24 points. The victory was coach Mike Anderson's 100th win at Missouri. Anderson (100-47) reached the 100-win mark faster than any other coach in the program.
