COLUMBIA — The Boone County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Columbia man early Saturday morning after he climbed through the upstairs window of a woman’s home.

The 29-year-old man knew the woman, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release, and was asked to leave earlier in the evening. He allegedly broke the woman’s cell phone and threatened her.

Around 1 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were called to the house in the 4300 block of East Santa Barbara Drive after the man climbed through a second-floor window, stole a small amount of cash and followed the woman when she ran from the home, according to the release.

Jamar T. Banks, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary, second-degree property damage, misdemeanor stealing and third-degree domestic assault after deputies found him following the woman near her home, according to the release.

He was being held in the Boone County Jail with a bond of $52,000.
