Schweich being sworn into office as Missouri auditor

JEFFERSON CITY — Republican Tom Schweich is being sworn into office as Missouri's new auditor.

An inaugural ceremony is planned for noon Monday in the Missouri Capitol.

Schweich defeated Democratic Auditor Susan Montee in the November elections.

He is the only state official being sworn into office Monday. Newly elected legislators took office last Wednesday at Missouri's capitol and in Washington D.C. The auditor's office was the only other statewide office on Missouri's ballot last fall.

Montee already has begun work in her new role as chairwoman of the Missouri Democratic Party.
