Columbia College women's basketball team wins at McKendree

The Columbia College women's basketball team defeated McKendree 75-59 on Thursday night in Lebanon, Ill.

Freshman Ashley Fisher led the Cougars with 18 points and seven rebounds, helping Columbia College jump to a 44-28 halftime advantage with 14 first-half points.

Janita Session and Amanda Phillips each finished with 12 points for the Cougars, with Phillips contributing eight rebounds and six blocks. Kayla Rice added a game-high six assists.

Brittany Willis led the Bearcats with 18 points and seven rebounds.

The Cougars, No. 25 in the NAIA at 12-5, improved to 3-0 in the American Midwest Conference. The Bearcats fell to 5-11 and 1-2 in the AMC.  

Columbia College plays next against Stephens at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
