LA PLATA — Another mountain lion has been spotted and killed in Missouri.
The Missouri Department of Conservation says an Amish landowner near the northeast Missouri town of La Plata reported the latest case on Saturday. The Hannibal Courier-Post reports that a group of hunters searching the landowner's property for coyotes instead came within 20 yards of the mountain lion; they shot and killed the animal.
State officials estimate the mountain lion weighed 130 pounds. It was the second mountain lion killed in Missouri this month. A third mountain lion was spotted recently in suburban St. Louis.
