City buses slow as roads become slick

COLUMBIA — Roads were becoming slick at mid-morning on Monday, and city buses were slowing down.

“There are a few routes that are five to 10 minutes behind, but the main one that is affected is the commuter route down south, the 105 Purple,” Heather Lewis of Columbia Transit said shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.

If the buses get too far behind, Columbia Transit will switch to its emergency weather bus schedule.

“If that happens we will be announcing it over Twitter, our Facebook and we will contact the local radio stations,” Lewis said.

Until then Columbia Transit is requesting commuters allow for extra travel time and expect delays.
