COLUMBIA — Although the snow had not yet begun to fall, Columbia residents flocked to supermarkets and discount stores to stock up.

They were buying everything from sweatshirts to milk and bread.

At Walmart, here's what was selling:

MU sophomores Rachel Litzelfelner and Sarah Nadler, freshman Kate Nadler: Sprite, chips, candy, cereal, Easy Mac, Pop Tarts, sweatshirts, umbrellas, hot chocolate.

MU freshmen Ally Grubbs, Angela Bussey, Shelby Bryan: Ramen noodles.

MU sophomore Vince Vitale: Milk, orange juice, roast beef, blueberry bagels, strawberry cream cheese, barbecue sauce.

Amanda Centobie of Ashland and her three kids: Turkey burgers, lasagna, breakfast items.
