Hickman girls basketball team wins on road

The Hickman girls basketball team recovered from a slow start to defeat Holt High School 50-36 on Wednesday night in Wentzville.

The Kewpies (18-7) only led 7-4 after the first quarter. Hickman's offense ignited in the second half after making several 3-pointers.

Senior Claire Ortbals led the team with 17 points, making a total of four 3-pointers. Senior Aqua Corpening had 15 points, and sophomore Jade Holly added 11 points.

The Kewpies play Jefferson City at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in the district tournament.
