Missouri gymnast Alex Gold was named one of 16 finalists for the American Athletic Inc. award.

The national award recognizes the top gymnasts in America from all collegiate levels for athletic performance as well as academics and community service.

"It's like the Heisman Trophy of gymnastics," Tigers coach Rob Drass said.

Gold, one of two Big 12 Conference gymnasts among the finalists, boasts career high scores of 9.925 on vault, 9.725 on bars, 9.800 on beam and 9.850 on floor. She also has a 38.875 personal-best all-around score.
