SPRINGFIELD — Actor John Goodman has been scheduled as the featured guest at a fundraiser for the Lighthouse Children's Theatre in El Dorado Springs.

Goodman, a graduate of then-Southwest Missouri State University's theater department, will be the featured guest at the theater program's third annual gala on April 30.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that the Lighthouse Children's Theatre provides an after-school program for children ages 3-18.

Goodman is well known for his role as Dan Conner on the "Roseanne" television series, for which he earned a Golden Globe and an American Comedy Award as well as several Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

Most recently he has been seen in HBO's "Treme" series about post-Katrina New Orleans, where he lives.
