MU police seeking information about rape near Laws Residence Hall

COLUMBIA — The MU Police Department received a report early Tuesday morning that a rape occurred near Laws Residence Hall on the southwest corner of MU.

A woman told police a man approached her between 4 and 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The release from MU police said the man started asking the woman questions before assaulting and raping her.

The report said that, after the assault, the man ran south toward the university parking lot WG-6.

MU Police Captain Brian Weimer said this is the first rape reported to MU police this year.
