COLUMBIA — A  40-year-old Hallsville man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine.

Michael W. Tinker was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, felony driving with a revoked driver's license and possession of drug paraphernalia, said Maj. Tom Reddin of the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Tinker was arrested during a traffic stop on the 1200 block of Player Place at about 8:53 p.m. The Boone County Sheriff's Department pulled Tinker over because the vehicle's plates were registered to another car, Reddin said.

Reddin said he had no reason to believe Tinker was attempting to sell the methamphetamine.

Tinker was released from the Boone County Jail after posting the $9,500 bail.
