Retirement reception to be held for retiring fire chief

COLUMBIA - The public is invited to attend a retirement reception for Columbia Fire Department Chief William Markgraf.

Markgraf has been the fire chief since July 1988. He announced his plan to retire in October.

The reception is from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, in meeting rooms 1A and 1B. There will be a short presentation at 2:30 p.m.
