*CORRECTION: The assaults occurred on Tuesday night. An earlier version of this article gave the incorrect day.

COLUMBIA – Investigators with the Columbia Police Department said they have evidence linking the man who killed himself on I-70 with one of *Tuesday night's two sexual assaults.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Jill Wieneke said direct physical evidence connects Todd Rehkop with the sexual assault that occurred at the Hy-Vee on Conley Road. Wieneke would not give any further details about the evidence.

While they don't have confirmation, police said they think Rehkop was involved in the sexual assault attempt at the Sam's Club on Conley Road the same night.

"The suspect and the vehicle in the Sam's incident are consistent with the other reports about Rehkop," Wieneke said in an e-mail. The incidents were also similar and in close proximity, Wieneke added.
