SHOW ME THE RECORDS: Boone County Jail inmates

Monday, March 28, 2011 | 12:01 a.m. CDT

Each week, the Missourian highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.

For a complete list of Show Me the Records, go to columbiamissourian.com/records.

The records: A list of the names, ages, genders, races and hometowns of the current inmates at the Boone County Jail.

Why you'd want them: The list gives a general view of the demographics of inmates. The number of inmates can be compared each day, giving an indication of whether it is increasing or decreasing.

Where you get the records: Go to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department's website at www.showmeboone.com/sheriff. On the homepage, click on the link on the right that says "Current Inmates."

How much it will cost: The information is free.
