Columbia College basketball defeats Hannibal-LaGrange in AMC quarterfinal

The Columbia College men's basketball team ended Hannibal-LaGrange's season Thursday night in the quarterfinal round of the AMC tournament. The Cougars are now 26-4 on the season.

Columbia College led 30-25 at halftime and managed to keep the lead in the low-scoring game by making 15 of 19 shots from the free throw line while the Trojans only managed two scores on four attempts. The Cougar bench outscored the Trojans 34-0.

Columbia College's Hal Payne had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Cougars. Jaron Strickland, Taylor Evans and Matt Woodcock each added nine points.

The Cougars continue on in the AMC tournament at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday against Park University at the Southwell Complex. The winner of that game with play the winner of McKendree and Harris-Stowe on Tuesday. 

The winner of the AMC tournament gets an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament on March 16-22 in Kansas City.
