Mary Burke, the only nationally ranked gymnast for the Tigers, competes at a recent meet. MU will face three nationally ranked teams in the Big 12 Championship: No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 11 Nebraska and No. 20 Iowa State.

COLUMBIA — The nationally unranked MU gymnastics team will face three nationally ranked teams in the Big 12 Championship: No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 11 Nebraska and No. 20 Iowa State.

Oklahoma finished first in the Big 12 Championship the past three years. MU placed third the past four seasons and has placed third or fourth since its entry into the Big 12 Conference in 1996.

At No. 24 in the all-around, junior Mary Burke is MU's only nationally ranked gymnast. She is ranked No. 16 on beam, and at the Missouri Tri-Meet on March 4, she set a career high score of 9.9 on beam.

Oklahoma and Nebraska dominate the rankings. The Sooners rank top in the Big 12 in beam and floor. Individually, Oklahoma has gymnasts ranked in all events, claiming No. 5, 9 and 20 on the beam.

Nebraska tops the Big 12 in the uneven bars and vault. The Cornhuskers bring nationally ranked No. 1 senior Erin Davis on vault. The team placed second at the championship the last two seasons.

Iowa State came in last the past two seasons but is ranked No. 14 on beam and floor. Junior Michelle Browning is the highest ranked all-around competitor in the Big 12, ranked at No. 20 nationally.

The meet will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hearnes Center. Missouri will begin the first rotation on beam, followed by floor and vault and finishing on bars.

General admission tickets will be sold at the regular price, $5 for adults and $3 for youth and seniors.

All reserved seat tickets, located in the lower-level A section, will be $8. Season tickets and student IDs are not applicable for this meet.

Live video of the meet will air on Big12Sports.com
