Columbia College softball home opener postponed

Tuesday, March 15, 2011 | 9:24 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The Columbia College softball team's doubleheader against Lindenwood University on Wednesday has been postponed because of poor field conditions.

The games will be played on April 21 in Columbia.

Coach Wendy Spratt said the weather also caused the Cougars to move practices indoors this season.

“We’ve only had one day on dirt in practice,” Spratt said.

Lindenwood would have been the Cougars' home opener, which now will be against Missouri Baptist University on March 21.

The Cougars' (7-4) next game will be against Olivet Nazarene University at 10:30 a.m. on Friday in O’Fallon, Ill., at the McKendree Invitational.
