LETTER: Helen Anthony committed to helping Columbia grow

Friday, March 18, 2011 | 11:56 a.m. CDT; updated 12:31 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, March 23, 2011

I have known Helen Anthony since she moved to Columbia eight years ago. Helen is an integral part of the community, most prominently as a member of the city's Planning and Zoning Commission.

She cares about the future of this city and is committed to helping plan for its growth. Helen has a deep understanding and nuanced approach to Columbia's diverse needs. Attracting business is high on her list of priorities, but, importantly, she balances that goal of development with the desires of our existing neighborhoods, the need for expanded infrastructure and the implications for future zoning.

I believe Helen's approach is the ideal way to maintain and improve our quality of life — something we all value and cherish as citizens of Columbia.

Ali Price lives in Columbia's Fifth Ward.
