COLUMBIA — Mayor Bob McDavid will announce Columbia's new city manager at a news conference at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.

"It was a good process; we had four extremely qualified candidates, any of whom would have been excellent city managers," McDavid said.

The press conference will precede the regularly scheduled pre-council meeting that begins at 6 p.m. The chosen candidate was not in Columbia on Monday and will not be at the news conference, McDavid said.

The final four candidates were Lori Curtis Luther, 36, of Waukesha Wis.; Kent Myers, 59, of Port Angeles, Wash.; David Vela, 37, of Abilene, Texas; and Mike Matthes, 42, of Des Moines, Iowa. All of the candidates were in Columbia over the weekend meeting with the public and interviewing with council members.
