Originally a neighborhood school with mostly students that walk to school, now Russell Boulevard Elementary includes students even as far as Scott Boulevard. The school has ties to MU, hosting the Adventure Club before and after school, which serves as a daycare provided by the university.

A main focus for Russell Boulevard Elementary is fitness. The Fitness Committee, including parents and teachers, organize events each month for students to enjoy being fit. The activities include “sock hops,” nights at the roller rink and yoga sessions.
