Full text:

The Islamic School of Columbia-Missouri opened in the fall of 1998 after the Islamic Center of Central Missouri’s board of trustees decided to establish a school the previous spring. The school had 24 enrolled students during its first year.

Students were taught in a two-class system. Ten preschoolers were taught in one classroom, and the kindergartners, first- and second-graders were taught together in another classroom.

One grade was added to the school every year until it established a fifth grade. In 2006, the school was incorporated with the state of Missouri as a nonprofit entity after previously operating with the support of the Islamic Center of Central Missouri. As of June 2008, the school has met all educational standards of the Missouri Nonpublic School Accrediting Association.

As of spring 2012, the school has 76 students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. A sixth grade class is being planned for the next fall.
