According to the Columbia Daily Tribune, the school building for Two Mile Prairie Elementary is designed to hold 200 students but has six trailers to accommodate the the increasing number of students who attend. The Columbia Tribune reported that Columbia Public Schools Superintendent Chris Belcher would like to get rid of trailers and find other solutions for crowded schools. Belcher said he wants to “develop a five-year plan to eliminate crowding at the elementary level.”
Potential solutions are to expand current elementary school buildings and to create a new elementary school. A new elementary school is currently in the works.
